We were so oversubscribed on the last overlocker workshop we have decided, by popular request, to squeeze another one in before September. So, dust off that beast and come on down for a fun day of exploring all the things they can do.

With overlockers becoming more and more popular in recent times this is always a popular workshop topic. Apart from the basic function of joining seams and edging fabrics they can do a whole lot more.

This workshop is designed to take you through the basics, tension problems and troubleshooting, the process of dealing with different fabrics with differential feed, to edge and sew; in addition to some decorative techniques and more advanced methods such as gathering,  lettuce edging and more. If you don’t have an overlocker yet but are thinking of getting one then borrow one of ours and give it a go! (Limited numbers of spare ones so let us know before booking that you will need one.)

Work at your own pace and have fun.

The day runs from 10 am until 4 pm with a break for lunch and costs £45.00

We will provide you with written material to include pictures to take away with you and you will need to bring the following:

Your overlocker/serger and power supply, handbook etc. (The handbook is very important as they are NOT all the same)

A reel of thread in each of four distinctly different colours. For example: red, blue, yellow and white.

A selection of different fabrics to experiment with such as denim, calico, cotton, jersey, chiffon, viscose, lycra, etc.

A sewing kit comprising of  large and small scissors, pins, etc.

spare needles for your machine to include ones that are suitable for stretch fabrics.

A notebook and pen

A packed lunch

Tea,  coffee and cold drinks are provided but if you have a liking for a particular herbal tea, please bring your own as I cannot promise to have what you want in my selection.

Learn how to edge, edge and sew in one go, stretch, gather, corners, curves, finishing off, lettuce edges, rolled hems and decorative ideas.
