12th October 2019 Machine embroidery workshop for beginners

Have fun learning how to use the humble domestic sewing machine as a powerful creative tool. Once you understand how to set your machine up to do it then the only limitation is your own imagination..
The emphasis of the day is definitely on experimentation in a creative way. Full instructions are given and all materials are provided so you don’t need to source anything and wonder if you’ve got the correct stuff.

Bring your own machine and a packed lunch. Hot and cold drinks are provided along with full instructions.

Your machine must have a “drop feed” facility (see in your handbook under darning, quilting or embroidery/monogramming) or a cover for the needle plate (again see your handbook) and a quilting or darning foot (sometimes called a free hand embroidery foot) If in doubt, get in touch.

The day runs from 10 am until 4pm with a break for lunch and costs £45 for the day.

Along with your machine you will need  a basic sewing kit (scissors, pins, threads, needles, etc.), notebook and pen/pencil, a selection of different coloured sewing threads and an 8 or 10 inch embroidery hoop or a “spring loaded” hoop. A vanishing pen would be useful but not compulsory and a selection of ribbons, yarns etc if you have them but don’t worry if you don’t. A sewing machine may be hired for the day by prior arrangement if necessary. If you have any questions about if your machine is suitable etc etc, then  just get in touch and we will  help you.
